due to a left fore P1 fracture. This injury has no explaination
other than a stallion at play in his pasture. After x-rays and
casting, Dymoni's injury has calcified and he continues to produce
superb get with size, excellent conformation, beauty and superb
P&R's.

When we first visited Rancho San Ignacio (RSI) one stallion immediately stood out, Drkumo RSI. "Dru" exemplied the best of Kuhaylan conformation. When turned out, Drkumo's movement took our breath away. The ground trembled with the power and stride of his trot. He commanded instant respect of his presence from his corral mates and from us. He was impressive then and every day there after. Dru was to be registered as Dykomo RSI, but Richard's handwriting was misread as his y's appeared to read as r's. The "DY" reflected his sire Dymoniet RSI and continues to dominate in naming our line bred horses. Drkumo produced foals taller than he, more refined foals from outside lines and all with dense bone, correct conformation, straight legs and tremendous hoof. He hooves grew more heal than toe, one of the most favorable traits he passed to his get. Once under saddle Dru became Crockett's back-country mount as the chosen transport of "horse back diplomacy" for his work as the District Ranger on the Camino de Real Ranger District in New Mexico. Often Crockett would saddle Drkumo and head off to a wild fire in our "backyard", The Peco Wilderness, and arrive long before fire crews could drive to the site. After 4 endurance performance years, we retired Drkumo to stud with our move to Escalante, Utah. Drkumo's retirement years were spent in a huge turnout corral and many mare encounters. He was always a picture of beauty and perfect health until the last two weeks of his life. A sudden and alarming change in his weight resulted in his first and immediate health trip to the vet clinic. Dru's teeth were perfect, his blood work total normal and all but his drastic loss of weight left everyone puzzled. With no signs of colic the prognosis had to be possible ulcers. Ulcer medication and treatment proved to be to late. His necropsy confirmed the prognosis. Drkumo now rests here on sacred ground on the Outlaw Roost. His presence forever reflecting in the spirit and conformation of his get and in our hearts.

Pedigree
Spotty decided it was time, his time to leave. After a brilliant endurance career he retired with us on the Outlaw Trail where he lived as a king in open pastures and loving admiration. With Skowronek, Raffles and Abu Farwa lines, Spaaht was born endurance. He came to me via a phone call from Jerry Parton, one of the first AERC endurance riders in the 70's. Jerry said, "this is the one, go get him.. his owners can't handle him and he is cheap." Friend Pat Roloff and I jumped in a rig and headed for Oregon. We met the owners trying to get Spotty out of the trailer at a truck stop. Spotty bolted back and the earth rocked as this 15'2 grey mass of energy floated through the big rigs, over debris and around fence lines until he decided it was time to come meet his new owner with not a scratch on him. Spotty taught me to hang on and from him I learned the meaning of endurance. He did it all, his terms, his way and I was just his passenger. Among his many career highlights Spotty achieved the 1987 NATIONAL BEST CONDITION HORSE - Reserve National Champion - First Region Overall - Regional BC and only once finished out of the top 5 rides he entered that year. He was the first horse ever to win the Pony Express 250 mile event, the first to win a multi-day event in the history of AERC. He is a true Champion. In 1988 Crockett rode Spotty to Regional & BC Championships. After a particular grueling NW 100 mile ride, Spotty came up lame the next morning. X-rays at WSU showed a bone chip that would eventually call for his retirement. We rested Spotty to come back from surgery and complete 5 more rides and his 4,000 mile medallion. When we moved to Utah, we turned him out with the promise of retirement with his pasture mates and never asked more from this wonderful champion. Spotty, my Drinker of the Wind, drink the wind. You are so loved!
